Block Printed Tea Towels Inspired by Flowers & Plants

This workshop will cover all the basics of block printing, taking inspiration from flowers and plants! In the first half of class, we’ll create our designs and learn to carve blocks. The second half of the class will be all about learning to print. You will leave the workshop tea towels featuring your own artwork! All of Bernie’s workshops focus on creativity, community, learning over perfection, and process over product.

Screen Printed Tea Towels Inspired by Fruits & Veggies
Tues, Feb 18, 6-8pm AND Tues, Feb 25, 6-9pm

This two-session workshop (two hours for the first session; three hours for the second session) will cover all the basics of screen printing! We will take inspiration from fruits and veggies and create a one-color printed tea towel. In the first class, we’ll create our designs, practice printing, and coat screens. In the second class, we’ll burn screens, and you will learn to print on fabric. You will leave the workshop with printed tea towels featuring your own artwork! All of Bernie’s workshops focus on creativity, community, learning over perfection, and process over product.

Improvisational Drawing

Join us for a process-based class exploring abstraction through improvisational drawing. This class is perfect for both beginning and more advanced students. Class will begin with a refresher of the formal elements of art and design such as color, line, shape, texture and composition. Students will be guided through a series of group and individualized prompts focused on abstraction. Students will leave the class with a series of experiments and directions to build upon in their own creative practice. Creativity, material exploration and the art-making process will be the emphasis of this course.

Ready to color your way through winter with a rainbow of art projects? Join me for Warm Creativity on Cold Afternoons! Returning for a mini-winter season, I am back in the Pinney Library Studio from 3:30-5:30 every Thursday in Feb. and every Tuesday in March with drop-in art making projects for grown-ups, teens, and kids. Different surprise projects and medium(s) will be featured each week to help you add some color play to your winter day. No registration necessary, drop-in and get creative with your friends and neighbors of all ages.
